De Karel de Grote Hogeschool (KdG) mag zich nu de meest ondernemende jonge hogeschool in Europa noemen. In Barcelona werden gisteren de Triple E Awards uitgereikt voor uitmuntendheid in ondernemerschap en engagement in het hoger onderwijs wereldwijd. KdG nam de ‘Young Entrepreneurial University of the Year Award’ in ontvangst.
KdG is geselecteerd voor haar werk en engagement in het stimuleren van ondernemingszin bij haar studenten. Centrale spil in dit alles is het KdG ondernemerscentrum.
“We zijn enorm fier op deze erkenning! Dankzij het Ondernemerscentrum kunnen studenten al tijdens hun studie werken aan hun eigen idee of startup”, vertelt Annemie Soetewey, hoofd van het Ondernemerscentrum. “Ze kunnen hun ondernemingszin verder aanscherpen door mee te werken aan maatschappelijke vraagstukken of bedrijfscases. Wij helpen hen afstuderen met een eigen zaak én een diploma. Onze docent-ondernemers brengen studenten in contact met ondernemers binnen en buiten KdG en bedrijven kunnen bij ons terecht om kennis en duurzame coaching te tanken. We zetten in op duurzaamheid in de brede zin: ook de sociale en ecologische dimensie van ondernemen krijgt de nodige aandacht.”
Het team achter het Ondernemerscentrum bestaat naast Annemie Soetewey uit Jeroen Peeters, Evert Bulcke, Griet Van der Velden, Kamal Kharmach, Sven Jacobs en Kristien Govers. “We zijn erg blij met deze overwinning,” klinkt het. “Ondernemen zit breed in het DNA van KdG: ook binnen onze opleidingen werken we hard aan ondernemingszin. We streven ernaar dat elke student hier ervaring in opdoet, niet enkel student-ondernemers.”
